![]() ![]() ![]() Rehashing the regenerating necromorph simply to make the end more difficult was stupid. As for the end being "easy." Did you play it on Zealot? Zero fun to be had for me personally. The whole end sequence is a complete let-down. I was having flashbacks to the first game when the crazy doctor guy is like "check this out, I made a Necromorph that regenerates limbs." Fuck that shit! However, the Ripper tears it to shreds without wasting boxes of ammo, so that was nice. Suddenly you're being stalked by something that regenerates like the Hunter and has the head of the Hive Mind. That thing was freaky in the way it just showed up, no big introduction or explanation. When it bust into the room I didn't even know it was a new Necromorph until I chopped its limbs off, went to hack the panel and was attacked as it got up again. ![]() My favorite part of the ending (even though I hated it in the moment) was the Hive Mind/Hunter hybrid thing. Besides, if you let Nicole touch you get a great/terrible death scene. I enjoyed their lead up in Dead Space 2 ending in a confrontation with the Marker, and that was good enough in place of a final boss or other large grotesque creature. I mean, there was the Hive Mind in the first game, but it wasn't really much of a challenge. However, there are times when these final encounters end up falling short of the mark, with the most egregious examples of the lot being mentioned below. It seems to me that Dead Space doesn't really "do" final boss fights. ![]() The final boss of any game has the added responsibility of being an epic encounter that will serve as a worthy and satisfying send-off to a game that's so far enraptured players' hearts for hours on end. Updated April 16, 2022, by Ritwik Mitra: Boss fights are meant to be climactic encounters that test a player's mettle and serve as a barrier to further progress in the game. Now a flick of the finger can kill them in only a matter of seconds-where is the fun in that and where is the challenge? Players fight battle after battle to reach that final boss. RELATED: Games With Great Dragon Boss Fights (& Others With Underwhelming ones) Hours of determination have brought them to this point-wouldn't it be terrible if that all meant nothing? Wouldn't it be disappointing to see that the boss that they have been working so hard to reach is nothing more than a pushover? What is a boss fight? In a sense, it is the culmination of all of the player's hard work. ![]()
